Release Night

About

For everything you’re waiting to watch.

You saw a trailer. Someone mentioned a show. Now there is a wait, and the internet makes you work too hard to know how long it is. Search results are four months old. The article says “expected in early spring.” Nobody tells you when it changes.

Release Night does the checking so you don’t have to. Search a movie or show and you get one plain answer: when it hits theaters, when you can rent or buy it at home, which service it is going to and when. Every date names the source that announced it. Follow the title and we email you when the answer changes. If you want to inspect the evidence, each published fact retains the supporting link. That is the whole product.

What counts as a date

We show dates exactly as they were announced. “Summer 2027” is Summer 2027, not June 1. “Coming soon” is not a date at all. Each date carries one of four words:

  • Confirmed: the studio, platform or distributor said it themselves.
  • Reported: a vetted trade or open reference reported it; the studio has not.
  • Expected: inferred from a known output deal, with no date attached.
  • No date yet: exactly that.

Rumors are not published. Predictions are not published. When we get something wrong, the correction goes into the title’s history with the source, in public.

How alerts work

Follow a title and we email you when a date is announced or moves, when tickets go on sale, when it is available at home, and when the streaming service and date are announced. Production milestones and trailers go in a Thursday digest. Every category can be turned off. One click unsubscribes from everything. We never sell your email.

What we are not

Not a review site, not a social network, not a place to log what you watched. Letterboxd is wonderful at that. We are the calendar, not the diary.

US dates only for now. The data model knows about other territories; the promise will expand when the accuracy is proven.
